about
BLOOM IS AN ALBUM BY POPULATION OF ANTARCTICA, WHICH FEATURES CATCHY MELODIES, NICE-SOUNDING INSTRUMENTALS, and A CONCEPT ABOUT THE END OF A FRIENDSHIP AND THE PROCESS OF RECOVERING AND TRYING TO BUILD A NEW SOCIAL CIRCLE.
About the artist
Hello! My real name is Colton Freeman. I'm from the town of Canton, Michigan, and I've been making music under the name of Antarctica Music since I was twelve years old. For this album, I decided to change the name of the project to Population of Antarctica because I thought that the previous name was too generic.
My journey with music started when my parents decided to enroll me in drum lessons when I was very young, maybe around Kindergarden. I've been playing the drums for as long as I can remember, but I've only started making actual recordings when I discovered online daws, and one specifically that was almost entirely free to use (which i'm not going to name because I dont want them to get free promotion).
I started releasing music onto Soundcloud in Febuary of 2021, and I would continue to release music, slowly improving over time, learning how to use samples, how to create nice melodies, and what sounds I can use in my music. I've also slowly learned how to play other instruments like piano, bass, and guitar. I feel like this album, Bloom, is a culmination of all the skills I've gained over the past 3-4 years.
About the Album
After finishing the album Afterlife in January-Febuary of 2022, I was struggling with writer's block, or whatever the musician's equivalent is.
